What’s new with Rival IQ? (Say it aloud. It’s more fun that way.)
The whole team was actually around for this last sprint, and it was nice to take advantage of the overlap to talk to customers as a team. As always, we learn a ton from listening to what you have to say. The funny thing is, watching you all use Rival IQ is as informative as listening to you talk about your needs because doing so reveals every potential UX and design improvement we have yet to make (and yes, it is a target-rich environment).
Usually, we thank everyone for their help at the end of these updates, but since spending time with you was the top focus of our time for the past few weeks, we wanted to make sure you know how much we appreciate your help. Here it goes…a huge thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to get on the phone, write us an email, or sit down in person, especially PaulineR, TimR, EricC, BrianS, MichaelS, TraciL, RickP, ChrisC, RobP. Big breath, there are more of you: KatherineM, VicktorN, VenkatP, SuhailD, BrinaB, DavidB, BradB, WillC, WillF. What, you thought I was done? Finally, big thanks to ToddS and GregM. We love all of you.
We took the juice from all of these interactions, along with some other requests you’ve had, to choose what to improve in our product. Here’s what we picked, and it’s all available for you over at Rival IQ:
- Retweet data. We now have data about how many retweets you and your competitors get on a day-by-day basis. Go see how you stack up.
- Facebook posts data. We forgot to mention this last time, but data on the frequency of your competitors’ Facebook posts is now available in Rival IQ as well.
- Filtering by tags, everywhere. We’re not going to lie, our implementation of tags has not been easy to find or use. With this release, we’ve addressed a number of items related to tags including enabling view filtering by tags in each part of our app and keeping your tag filters applied across screens within the app. We know that we still have work to do in adding and editing tags, but that’ll have to wait for another day.
- Visual Consistency. After both your verbal feedback and watching you use our app, it became clear that improving our consistency with respect to menu interactions, labeling, etc was something we couldn’t put off any longer. We went after making as much of the Rival IQ experience as consistent as possible. Go have a look and tell us how we did, particularly all of you UX folks. Please?

We Need Your Help
Use the app, and let us know what would make it perfect for you. We love to hear from you, and every time we do, it just adds to the feeling that without you and your input, we will never meet your expectations. Your feedback (positive or negative) is truly valuable. We just want to help you, so bring it. Please.
Tell your friends and co-workers about what they’re missing. Help us help you by bringing more customers to Rival IQ. With more folks using the app, we get broader feedback. Feedback makes things better. You like better. We know you do.
Talk to you soon, everyone!
